Feast
The other day I went out of my way to look for a new small cafe called Feast in Nedlands, featured in Kate Flower’s article in The West Australian on September 24.
This cafe is very cool, and very chic. It felt very homely, and seeing Riki Kaspi from Blake’s Cafe in North Perth come out a few times to prepare and present freshly cooked dishes (from the back kitchen) in the display window with delicate precision just showed how much she cares about and loves her food.
Display window of delights
I wanted a quick coffee and bite, so I ordered a cappuccino and one of their cakes descriptively named the “chewy macadamia, walnut, apricot and chocolate cake”.
Chewy macadamia, walnut, apricot and chocolate cake
When the slice of cake came out, I was amazed at how large it was. I knew I couldn’t finish it off straight from the bat. As I cut through the spongy goodness with the side of my fork, the chocolate crackled like spun sugar. The cake was so chewy, mainly because it was filled with large chunky pieces of apricot. I found the cake to be very sweet, but the side plate of cream helped add some subtleness to this sugar-packed delight. My coffee had a nice crema, and helped wash down this nice mid morning snack.

A bowl of sugar. Why did I post this pic? I have no idea
Next time I’ll venture down to leafy Nedlands to try their breakfast menu – I can’t wait.
