Subi Farmers Market

On a humid Saturday, I peruse the stalls at the Subi Farmers Market looking for fresh fruit, food, and coffee…

My first visit to the Subi Farmers Market is exciting, as I browse through different fruit stalls picking up many varieties of nectarines and peaches, and then sniffing them like a hound dog before bagging and paying for them. I treasure my bag of extra large white peaches which I buy from Passion ate, which have been hand picked on the Thursday prior.

I am hungry at this point, so I walk down to the Diablo’s Oven Breakfast Calzone stall where I purchase a calzone with biodynamic field mushrooms, spinach, fetta, ham, balsamic glaze, and pine nuts ($10.00). I am told that there is a 10 minute wait, so rather than waiting around, I go to Luke & Pat’s Coffee Shack to purchase a $3.00 Fiori coffee. The coffee burns my tongue as it is too hot, but I still drink it anyway, as I am really in need of some liquid. My head is flush with a tinge of pink due to the warm sun, so I sit under the shade with mum. I hear my name being called out so I race quickly to pick up my piping hot calzone. We share the calzone, which is cut in half. It is packed full of flavour, and is doughy, rich, slightly sweet, and textured.

At this point my morning is complete. We leave the Subi Farmers Market with bags in hand and go home to our airconditioned sanctuary.

The pizza there is to DIE for! Best pizza I´ve had in Perth!

I have to agree with you on that one Jesper :) Two ladies prep up calzones with lots of love and care, and finally, they are slotted into the portable oven by Mr Diablo himself.

Those calzones are as hot as lava when they come out. I’m bringing my gardening mitts from now on.
