Jirapron Banana Snack (Kluai)
About two months ago, Mum accidentally came across Thai oven dried banana snacks at the Trans Asian Food Centre in Northbridge. She bought a box to try. Since then, we have kept buying them. We just can’t stop eating them – they’re addictive! The Jirapron Banana Snack box consists of 7 individually wrapped oven dried bananas, costing only $2.85. Yes, $2.85!!! Why is it so cheap? I have no idea. But as far as I know, the Trans Asian Food Centre is the only place in Perth that sells these. We couldn’t find it any at other Asian supermarket (such as Kongs and the like).
Jirapron Banana Snack
In poor English, a brief description (on the box) explains the product as follows:
“Well-known oven sweet banana which is produced from Phitsanuloke, a northern province of Thailand, is made from 100% well-selected GMO-free bananas. The products, without artificial colours, additional sugar and contaminated substances, are dried by “Solar Energy Oven”. Each package is contained by modern machine. And is certified by Food and Drug Administration, The Public Health Ministry of Thailand“.

Each individually wrapped package contains two bananas (which are not too sweet). When taken out of their packaging, they look like two dried turds on a pedestrian sidewalk. If you can look past the appearance, I guarantee that you’ll be pleased with the taste. They’re great for an energy kick or if you need something to satisfy your stomach before dinner.
